So sorry for the lack of updates. Been super super busy running around the past few weeks, going for acting classes, going for meetings, emceeing events, script readings, image making and rehearsals, add to that, I’m also in the midst of helping a company source for some artistes, as well as a trip to Bangkok for a commercial shoot, I barely have time to sleep!

I guess I can now officially announce that I got myself 2 acting gigs in 2 separate TV series, both Mandarin, which will air on 8TV. Watch out for me in Goodnight DJ 2, as well as 8TV’s anniversary drama - A Time To Embrace(ATTE) coming soon. Both roles are supporting leads and challenging in their own right and I’m so excited to be starting shoot for DJ2 this week and ATTE on August 1st!!

Another exciting news! This site is going through a revamp!! Hopefully sometime in mid-august, you’ll be able to see a brand spankin’ new and cooler, more sophisticated looking belindachee.com!! So, really, watch this space!!

So, as I was contemplating on whether to take a cab or get someone to send me to KL Sentral to take the KLIA Ekspres (ERL) to the airport (since I was flying MAS), I was told about this brand new KLIA Ekspres VIP Service!

This service combines a limo pick-up and drop off with the ERL service to or from the airport.

The driver wanted to open to door for me but I asked him to take a picture of me instead!!

Well, this service is not exactly new, it’s been available for the past few years now, but before, the limo pick-up and drop off was limited to only commercial buildings and hotels but recently, KLIA Ekspres launched an additional service, the send-to-home service - where they pick u up or send you straight home!

So, instead of bothering other people to drive me an hour to the airport, or take a smelly cab with a creepy/perverted cabbie, I get picked up in an executive limo from home (you can share with up to 4 persons!) to Sentral, free porter service, and with the ERL leaving every 15-20 mins, I can travel in style without breaking a sweat (or a nail lugging my luggage!) and get to the airport in no time!

The beauty about taking the ERL is that you can check-in and drop off your luggage here in Sentral, and go straight to your departure gate once you’re at the airport. (No worries, my bags arrived safe and sound in Bali!)

This check-in service is currently available if you’re traveling on MAS, Royal Brunei, Cathay and Emirates with more to come in the near future.

And if you want to hang out in KL just that little bit longer, there are lots of amenities at KL Sentral - Banks to do your last minute money exchange and cafes like Coffee Bean to get your coffee fix while waiting for your travel partners (like I did…;))

Not only is it the fastest way to get to the airport (only 28 minutes!), there are no worries of traffic and taking the ERL is also a “green” way to travel!!

You can travel to the airport with more friends and also make new friends from all over the world in the half an hour train ride!

They also provide the send-to-home service for your inbound trip!

First, in May on my birthday weekend,  Joe and I did a lil road trip around the East Coast to Cherating and Kuala Terengganu.

Then, the weekend after, I was in Perhentian for a diving trip and got my Advanced Open Water Diver License.

The first weekend of June, I went to Bali with 10 other girls for my girl friend’s Hens Party!

This is the beautiful bride-to-be, Elaine. We’re both from Kuching and attended tuition together!

And, I just got back from Singapore last weekend for Claire’s 1st birthday! Yes, she’s already 1! Can you believe it? Kids grow up so fast, don’t they?!

She started walking at 10 months and is now capable of running away from her parents! hehehe…

While in Singapore, we managed to visit the newly opened Marina Bay Sands Resort & Casino.

Tried my luck at the Roulette table and my birthdate won me $360!!

This weekend, Joe and I and both our parents went up to Genting and stayed a night there! Parents went to watch Engelbert Humperdinck live in concert. Since we already went to a casino the weekend before, Joe and I skipped the casino this time around and walked around the First World Mall/Arcade, before joining the rest of the family at the Karaoke and sang the night away!

I managed to talk Joe into taking Sticker pictures at the arcade!! The last time we took Sticker Pictures was probably about 10 years ago when we first started dating. Who said marriage changes everything?!? hehehe….

This will probably be my last weekend away till August when I go for my Europe trip!! Probably…..hehehe..

Oh by the way, I’ll be running 10km(!!) in the Standard Charted KL Marathon next Sunday. Hopefully I’ll be able to finish!! Will be all out training this week to make up for the lack of it the past month! hehehe…

So we’re already half way through the month of May. Time flies, doesn’t it?  I really do apologize for not updating more often, a lot of times, I’d feel like updating but I don’t know what to blog about. Plus, it’s been quite a busy 2 months for me, nothing set in stone yet, but I’m really grateful that jobs are steadily pouring in.

Photoshoots

I’ve been keeping busy with various photoshoots, from profile shoots to magazine shoots..

Getting hair and makeup done at ‘Glitters by Eddie Putera‘ a brand new studio in town opened by husband and wife team of Eddie Putera and Nurfarahin Jamsari. That’s Awin doing my hair, she did an awesome job on my makeup too!

Kak Farahin had invited me to do some profile shots at their new studio and since I haven’t done a profile shoot in a while, I jumped at the opportunity!!!

This is just one of the shots taken by Abg Eddie and I absolutely love it!

Fooling around with Jason and SK when the cameras weren’t rolling at a Female magazine photoshoot. We were in a petshop at Mines Shopping Centre. I had to cuddle a little bunny rabbit for this photoshoot and I’ve never held a rabbit before, so it was quite a nerve-wrecking experience - for the rabbit and for me!!:)

Legs galore!!! Hehehe… With other hot chiccas for a shoot for Mint Magazine. It’s for the World Cup 2010 special issue and we were all given a quiz about the World Cup and I’d failed miserably. I only got 3 out of 10 questions right!! Who knew it was Winter time in June in South Africa?!?

Mother’s Day Celebration

The mothers in my life…my grandma and my mum.

I treated my family to a nice dinner at Angus Steakhouse in Pavilion for nice Japanese steaks.

I know a lot of times, our parents just want to spend quality time with us and that’ll make them really happy. However, sometimes, I think a gift is in order, just to show them that we do care and think about them and we appreciate everything that they’ve had to go through to bring us up.  A meaningful gift is just a little form of ‘payback’ if you will…..

This year, I found them both a perfect gift! Aptly named the uMama Warm, by Osim.

It’s not a lot of money to spend to guarantee our mums that 15 mins of comfort everyday, knowing that they’ve spent even more on making us comfortable all our lives!

Emergency First Response (EFR) Class

I’ve always had the intention to learn how to do First Aid and CPR but never really pursued it actively. So when Lee and Cyrena from Dolphin Sport told me that they will be conducting EFR classes for some of the soon-to-be Rescue Divers and asked if I wanted to join in the class, of course I said YES!!

We played out some case scenarios as well… It was both fun and informative!! Of course you pray that you’ll never have to perform CPR on someone for real, but with the knowledge, if a situation arises, at least I know I can do my part in helping save a person’s life.

I’ll be taking my Advanced Open Water Diving Course in Perhentian next weekend!! So excited!!! Can’t wait to go underwater again!

Went to watch the first live show for 8TV’s Showdown 2010 at KL Live Centre last Wednesday. Hafiz from Fly FM is the host of this reality dance show on the lookout for the best dance crew in Malaysia.

There was a mix of some amateur crews as well as professionals in this competition. But boy, can they all dance!! This is the Gila Battle Crew (GBC) performing their routine. They’re one of the crowd favourites. You can watch all episodes of Showdown 2010 on Catch-up TV at www.8tv.com.my.

Just a quick lil update of my life, so far.

Married life is good, I feel so blessed. Joe is working hard to earn money so I don’t have to work…hehehe…I have a mother-in-law who takes great care of everyone in the house, so I always have food to eat irregardless of what time I get up or get back home. Work has been steadily streaming in, I’m loving all the breaks I get to take to go see the world, what else can I ask for? Life is treating me well.

Just got back from a tour of Taiwan with my MIL and family, was supposed to leave for a “2nd honeymoon” to Europe this Saturday but we’ve decided to postpone the trip till August in light of the current air space/volcanic ash situation. Still working on the 4th Episode of It’s a Belle World, don’t know whether there’ll be more episodes coming after that because I haven’t been diligent enough in video-ing my trips. hehehe….

I have several new projects in talks at the moment which I’m really excited about, kinda anxious as well coz it’ll require me to really step out of my comfort zone and overcome new and very challenging obstacles. Don’t know whether I still have the determination in me to pull through.  We’ll see…:)

Perhaps the nagging questions on every school leavers’ minds are, What should I do now? Should I start work? Should I continue with studies? What do I want to study? What do I want to be when I grow up?

Years ago, I’ve had to answer those difficult questions for myself. I had a very short period of time and I was under lots of circumstances- being uprooted from Kuching, not knowing anyone in KL, being late for early intake so I had to start later than everyone else- but in the end, my parents and I did make the right choice for me because we enrolled at Taylor’s College Subang Jaya (TCSJ), which ended up being one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and those years at Taylor’s were the best years of my life so far! I found the ‘loves’ of my life there - my now career path and my husband!!

TCSJ offers only Pre-U programs, along with the Sri Hartamas campus. Other tertiary programs are now being offered at the Taylor’s Lakeside Campus near Sunway

So I was delighted to be invited to visit TCSJ again for their Open Day recently. Much has changed since I went there, the Canteen we used to know has been renovated and half of the space is now taken up by a computer lab. The offices and the classrooms, well, they’ve been repainted and renovated here and there so it looks refreshed! All the shops across the street are now nicer - they now have a Pappa Rich and a Starbucks, we didn’t have Asia Cafe back then, we had ‘Pan Mee’ under a tree!!

Anyways, knowing that I have to write a blog post about my old college, well, I didn’t want to sound biased, but I guess I can’t help because having been an ex-student, I already know that the college is top notch! Great facilities, inspiring teachers and a great social experience overall! (I made some of my best friends there and we still hang out till now!) But I tried to keep an open mind and went in as both a potential student and potential parent of a student ;P to see if I would buy what they’re selling now.

But of course, I was sold. Especially on their Canadian Pre-U (CPU) program. I personally did the American Degree Transfer Program (ADP) because I knew, going into college, that I wanted to do a Media/Communications Degree. But if you’re like most 16-17 year olds and you’re unsure of what you want to do, I’d encourage you to do a Pre-U course. You will spend a minimum of 1 year in the course and are given the flexibility to choose various subjects to see where your interests are, preparing you for the road ahead, which is University.

I would call a Pre-U program a transition period or “rehab” for your learning system from the national school system before you get thrown into a University.

You know, when you’re in a public school system, all you ever do is memorize things in the pretext of learning - memorize equations, memorize history, memorize moral values (which till this day I still think is ridiculous… how are you suppose to instill moral values into a student by asking them to memorize how ever many ‘Nilai-Nilai Murni’ there are?) You’re discouraged from asking questions - things are what they are, like you’re told, you can’t have your own opinions if they defer from that of the text book, I can go on and on…but I think this video (done by Taylor’s CPU Students) might illustrate better….

Although the video stopped a bit abruptly, you get the idea…. What got me into rooting for CPU is the innovative, interactive and flexible learning approach – it focuses on active student participation and student-centred learning, you’re encouraged to have your own opinions, you’re encouraged to ask questions and you’re also encouraged to answer the questions other students ask! You learn from each other and the teachers are just there to facilitate and point you in the right direction!

And if you’re sick and tired of studying for one final exam which will make or break your entire year in school, well, CPU students are assessed through 70% coursework and 30% final examinations. Most of the coursework includes group projects and presentations which helps, not only in obtaining hands-on knowledge, but helps to build social skills – working in a team – and presentation skills, all of which you’d require in to start ahead and stay ahead in real life! Not so much your book smarts! ;P

And what really sold me on CPU was the 10-hour compulsory community service every student is required to complete before graduating. Now that’s the way to instill good moral values and at the same time contribute to the community! To add to that equation, 80% of CPU’s teachers are from Canada, they’re young, vibrant (and if I may add - pretty good looking bunch too!! hahahaha….) and have a world of international experience, which students here can take from.

Don’t be fooled by its name though, besides Canada, the CPU Program opens doors to universities all over the world, including the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, India, Russia, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea and more!

From what I hear, the CPU program has just moved into Wisma Subang Jaya (formerly the Taylor’s Business School building) so you’ll get to have plenty of facilities (like computer labs and lecture halls) all to yourselves! So, if you’re still undecided as to what you want to study or where, say Yes! to Taylor’s CPU!!

Tea and scones, anyone?

Very impressive set up. Apparently, some of the original props from the movie are being displayed around the concourse area of Mid Valley.

I didn’t get to see any, or maybe I did but didn’t realise…hehehe…. But it will be there for the next week or so, so do go check it out whenever you’re around the area.

The “fake” red queen and her ‘konco-konco’ on stage in what I’d like to call the ‘3 minute-Alice-in- Wonderland-Summary’ dance show

I must say that their costumes look really good and I think the “fake” Red Queen did a really good job at capturing the “real” Red Queen’s character.

Models were parading ‘Alice in Wonderland’ jewellery collection by Swarovski. This is the signature “Sparrow” pendant, which is inspired by the pendant Alice wore in the film.

Managed to sneak in a picture with the Mad Hatter and Alice before they fled the scene!

And now, for my personal review of the movie ‘Alice in Wonderland’.

I was never really a big fan of Tim Burton’s fantastical films, even though most of them featured the gorgeous Johnny Depp. But I was quite excited to watch Alice in Wonderland in Digital 3D because the only 3D movies I’ve watched were those ‘rides’ in amusement parks. I even went as far as watching the 1950s cartoon version before going for the movie to get an idea of what the story is all about.

I didn’t have an expectation going into the movie, and just as well because the movie has nothing much to be expected. Visual effects were ‘blah’, the story line was not fully developed, the actor playing Alice was kinda stiff, the only 2 characters I enjoyed seeing were the Mad Hatter (played by Johnny Depp) and The Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter). Even Anne Hathaway (whom I love) who played the White Queen was kinda uninspiring in this movie.

I don’t know about you guys who’ve seen the movie in 3D, but without subtitles, I find it quite hard to catch what the characters are saying, especially when the Mad Hatter goes into his crazy Scottish accent, and all the weird names for the creatures, it got me a little confused. Maybe I’m just slow.

But of course, I liked a few things about the movie. I like that it’s quite funny, Tim Burton manages to insert a little humor here and there which is always nice in a script heavy movie. Although the visual effects didn’t blow me away, I enjoyed the entire 3D movie experience. Watching a movie for me is a form of escapism from the real world and watching Alice in the ‘Underworld’ is the ultimate escape. You’re brought into a dream world, a world that you might be in if you’ve had one too many ‘mushrooms’. hehehe…

But don’t take my word for it, go watch it for yourself and write your own review! Alice in Wonderland is now open in cinemas nationwide.

Will be going again end of March for the Dubai World Cup with my family.

Burj Khalifah, the tallest building in the world, hardly visible in a sandstorm. It was my first sandstorm experience last weekend in Dubai.

In my travel itinerary for the first half of this year - Tioman this weekend for a diving trip (leaving tomorrow!), Europe, end of April, Cherating in May and Bali in June! It’s great to be freelancing in that sense, I get the freedom to go traveling whenever I want to.
