Black no more!

It’s been almost 2 years since I last coloured my hair. I shot a hair commercial back in 2007 and had to colour my hair black. Since then, I haven’t done anything to my hair and kept it dark for it to recuperate (haven’t had black hair since I started colouring my hair after high school). I’ve wanted to colour it for a while now, but somehow, I’ve always procrastinated and probably was a bit scared of change. But last week, I made my mind up to just go for it and sat through 4 hours at my hair sponsor – Peekaboo, The Curve, and came out with a brand new hair colour!!

First, Alvin carefully separated and brushed very fine strands of hair with highlights and wrapped them in foil. The finer the highlights, the more natural it looks, apparently.

Then, they added the base on the rest of the hair and together with the foils, I had to sit under a heat radiating contraption for about 10 mins before they colour the roots. By then, I felt like my hair weighed a tonne and I had to put in extra effort to keep my head straight! I know…..I’ve coloured my hair plenty of times before but you tend to forget all these little details.

After the colour, I did a colour treatment. Basically they put hair mask on your hair and let it sit under a steamer (pictured). You know, hair salons have the weirdest looking contraptions. First time i was put under this machine, I actually felt kinda embarassed to be out in public looking like that. :P

Finally, Sam trimmed about 2 inches off my damaged ends and wahlaa…..

A new me!! Well not quite la…. The change is actually quite subtle and I like it that way.

You can see the highlights better under sun light……

At work last night! With curls….. So, what do you think?

On a separate note, I attended a workshop today organised by SinclairFalak (yes, my good friend Aishah Sinclair and her brother and Sazzy Falak set up this company). It’s called ‘Financial Fortress Saved My Life’ and yes, it’s about money management. Today’s workshop was specially catered to people who work in the entertainment industry. Faizal Tahir was there, so was Vanidah Imran, Ash Nair, Nas-T and a few others.

I thought I’ve always been pretty good at managing my money – I save, I pay all my bills on time, I don’t have any debts. And I’ve learned from today’s workshop that I actually modelled after my parents who were very economical in my formative years and encouraged me to save all the money I had from a very young age. “Save for a rainy day”, my dad would always say. Plus right now, since I still don’t have a lot of liabilities, except for my car loan and bills, I save most of what I earn and shop only for myself! I know I go a bit crazy shopping sometimes but I don’t buy the expensive stuff, coz when I do, like if I buy myself a designer handbag, I’d feel guilty about spending so much on a bag and will actually lie about the price of the bag, especially to my mum. But, in our case, because this industry is short-lived and we work on a freelance/project basis, you’ll never know when your income will stop completely, so it’s good to know that I can make my money grow for me!

Anyways, to cut the story short, I learned the world’s simplest way to make my money grow and if you want to find out more too, go to http://www.lvgconsultants.com or take part in their next workshop. Trust me, this is not a get rich quick scheme, this is for financial security in the long run. You don’t even need to have a lot of money to start with, you just have to put in the effort to start building your financial fortress now, which will serve you in the future.

Wah…..I sound like such an expert after only a day. I promise they didn’t pay me to say this, in fact, I paid them to attend the workshop! hehehe…

Oh, before I end, I’d like to thank Chee Hoong for creating a Facebook page for me! I’ve been wanting to create one of my own and ‘techno-savvy’ me didn’t know how to! And also it’d be kinda sad to start my own page, wouldn’t it? hehe…. So, if you’re a ‘fan’, please add me at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Belinda-Chee/51241801793. Honestly, I still don’t know how I can get to my page through my FB home page, I had to bookmark the above URL. ;P I’ll learn, slowly but surely…hehehe… More updates will go up there soon. Ok, that’s all for now, till my next post, take care and start saving for a better future now!!

Love, Bel

    Nice curl and color.
We met at one of your cousin’s place in Matang, 2 CNYs ago. My apology for appearing a little rude and nonchalant; perhaps more than a little rude. I was a little carried away on seeing my beloved godmother and her family. A belated, nice to meet you.
